SPORT: NTF PRESIDENT PASS AWAY

The Nigeria Tennis Umpires Association (NTUA), in conjunction with the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF), has enjoined Nigerians across the country to honour the late NTF President, Engr. Ifedayo Akindoju, by lowering tennis nets nationwide on Saturday, 4th October, 2025 at 12 noon.

“As a mark of respect and in his honour, a minute silence and the lowering of all tennis nets across Nigeria shall be observed on Saturday at 12 noon, with the symbolic event holding at the Center Court, National Stadium, Durumi, Abuja.

“All NTUA members, NTF stakeholders, tennis players and tennis lovers alike are encouraged to be on ground by 11:30am prompt across the country to honour a
great TENNIS ICON.”

Former Commissioner of Sports in Bayelsa state Opukiri Jones-Ere has expressed total disbelief in the gesture-of-disgrace displayed by Political Activist Omoyele Sowore at the 10th Edition of the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon Sowore almost created a scene at the event when he defied and broke protocol when he decided to sit on the VIP area reserved for the Lagos state Governor, Babatunde Sanwo-Olu and the Chairman and the Director General of the National Sports Commission, Mallam Shehu Dikko and Hon. Bukola Olopade.
